Hi everyone
Some of my candidates have already had this feedback from me.
Although we covered standard 2 as part of the micro teach presentation the IQA ( Independent Quality Assurer) has suggested that we need to directly link criteria 2.3 and 2.4 to legislation/policy/procedures relating to professional communication. So this is what I need you to do:
Create a brief RA describing how you followed your school's professional procedures/policy etc. when planning/preparing and presenting your micro teach presentation. A link to your school's policy would also be good.
OR
Create a brief RA describing how you followed your school's professional procedures/policy etc. when planning/preparing and doing your Peer observation. You could also include a WT from the school/person you observed ( or any staff involved with your planning/communication relating to this activity)
I hope this makes sense.
Apologies to those of you who had thought they were complete. As you know this is a brand new course and City & Guilds are refining as we go.
We at Qualified Education want to ensure the very highest standards are maintained

Oh Karen, just when we all thought we could relax and enjoy the sunshine...and a class of grape juice! Ok I'm on it. Thanks. :-)

Oh, I feel so guilty. I would have the 'grape juice' while writing your RA. Might make it less painful

Just as I thought I'd finished! I have completed this by copying extracts from the schools teaching and learning policy and explained how I referred to them when planning the micro teach lesson. Let's hope that's the last! Lol

Brilliant Michelle, this is an excellent way of evidencing this. I've just had email from another candidate asking if 2.3 and 2.4 have to relate to the micro teach. the answer is no, but obviously, if you can make the link it would be much easier. If you have any other situation that you can link to these standards then feel free to do so

Following today's session with the second group. Quite a few good suggestions came up fro how to evidence this:
One candidate suggested the communication/legislation/policy involved with transitions from primary to secondary school. If you've been involved with this. I think this would work well.
Another idea, might be: the communication/legislation/policy related to health issues, for examples, if you work with a child/children who have physical learning difficulties or illnesses/medical conditions.
I hope I'm not causing confusion, just trying to give you as many ideas as I can think of

Hello, I had done a reflective account for standard 2 anyway before I knew about the micro teach! (I had jumped the gun a bit but I am quite glad now!) I had a witness statement to back it up from the class teacher and it seems to all be ok with Kath. I used examples of dealing with parents in a confidential way for 2.3, and official paperwork and procedures for 2.4 when I had to report an incident. I hope this helps if anyone is stuck for examples or ideas.

Not sure how to link the micro teach session to 2.4-data protection, freedom of information etc. Any ideas, please?

Hi Elaine,
Could you maybe link it to the way you have documented your lesson plan in the correct format? Following the school's template for the lesson plan would mean that you have 'managed information' in the correct way and in line with policies. You could also mention about applying the national curriculam or EYFS (depending on the age group you planned for) and maybe use an example from that. If you have used your lesson on actual children in the class you may have recorded their development according to your school's procedure. That is the kind of evidence I had but as I had already completed a seperate reflective account I had that as back up. I hope this helps.
Yvonne

Very good Yvonne, I love your thinking. Linking to the writing of the lesson plan is an excellent method for evidencing 2.3 and 2.4. Keep em coming, the more ideas for evidencing this the better
